Black Lives Matter Protest—June 02, 2020, Los Angeles City Hall. The National Guard was stationed on the streets of downtown Los Angeles with the LAPD after the initial violence in the city that followed the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. Black Lives Matter supporters faced heavily militarized law enforcement as they peacefully demonstrated to demand racial equity and justice during an event that started on the steps of City Hall. This series received an IPA international Photo Award in the Editorial / Press-Photo Essay / Feature Story categories.
